Eyes Wide Shut : Underwater Wildlife

Blind Drawings

Part of my practice consists of doing “Blind Drawings” done with eyes closed. The drawings are part of an effort to get at the essence of an idea without over-thinking the next movement or worrying about drawing “correctly”. This affords me the freedom to conjure up ideas and focus on the content of the piece. The lines of the drawing are done with eyes shut and the shading is done with eyes open to give the piece light, shadow and atmosphere. The subjects of this series are a vast array of things humans do, good or bad and things that one person may enjoy that others may find absurd.
